Inventory Topic Area: TOURISM
Subject: COOPERATION AND COORDINATION OF POLICIES AND INITIATIVES
Management issues:
The overlapping responsibilities of various agencies have in the past led to fragmentation and duplication of effort. In recent years, however, an encouraging number of cooperative initiatives relating to visitor management and conservation have been progressed. Increasingly, agencies and specific interest groups are coming together to progress initiatives and this has resulted in a more effective use of the limited resources available for targeting tourism and conservation measures. The Working Party have in mind such schemes as the Tourism Management Initiative in the Trossachs, and village environmental improvements throughout the Loch Lomond and Trossachs area.
