Information and Education (Issue - T)

Inventory Topic Area: TOURISM

Subject: INFORMATION AND EDUCATION

Management issues:

Substantial resources are being invested in the provision of visitor information and associated interpretative education services by a number of organisations. These include the Loch Lomond Park Authority, the Forestry Commission, National Trust for Scotland, Scottish Natural Heritage and the Area Tourist boards. There is a wide range of print items available which are aimed at improving visitor enjoyment. Current plans to provide additional manned and unmanned information services to fill a number of gaps in existing provision are being hampered by lack of funding in general, and by the financial pressures on local authorities in particular. It is particularly important that the interests of people with disabilities are catered for in this regard.
