Inventory Topic Area: TOURISM
Subject: INFRASTRUCTURE AND VISITOR SUPPORT FACILITIES
Management issues:
Although there have been marked improvements in the provision of tourism infrastructure and visitor facilities during the past decade, much still needs to be done to cater adequately for existing and future visitor volumes, including for those with special needs. Visitor expectations have risen and they are increasingly looking for quality facilities and services. It should be possible to meet these higher visitor expectations without causing an adverse impact on the natural heritage if sufficient public and private sector resources are made available, linked to careful planning and management measures.
