Information and Education (Issue - R)

Inventory Topic Area: RECREATION

Subject: INFORMATION AND EDUCATION

Management issues:

There is evidently much greater scope to provide information about opportunities for recreation and how to enjoy them wisely and responsibly without diminishing the enjoyment of others. At a more fundamental level there is a need to make people aware of the fragility of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, and of the obligation on everybody living in or visiting it to be sympathetic to the need to sustain it for the future. It has been of interest to learn of the Secretary of State's Working Group on Environmental Education because insights gained through formal and informal education lay the foundation for how people behave towards the environment in their use and enjoyment of it. The Working Party therefore hope the Secretary of State's Working Group's report, which was published on 19 April 1993, will be read and acted upon in conjunction with theirs.
