Inventory Topic Area: RECREATION
Subject: COOPERATION: JOINT INITIATIVES
Management issues:
The Working Party have become very aware of the different interests which can exert an influence on the demand for, and the provision and management of, recreation and leisure - central and local government; various public and private bodies; local groups; and recreational and sporting bodies of one kind and another. There is also awareness of more than 100 such bodies within Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. Understandably, many of these groups set out to promote the interests they have been established to represent. But given the problems and pressures to which the Working Party have referred, the narrow pursuit of sectoral interests is not necessarily productive. It is also clear that there is a positive obligation on the major public bodies to seek, wherever possible, to harmonise their policies and activities in pursuit of common objectives.
