Pressure for Recreation (Issue)

Inventory Topic Area: RECREATION

Subject: PRESSURE FOR RECREATION

Management issues:

The sheer demand for and the wide diversity of recreational activities undertaken have created a number of concentrated - in time and location - pressure points. All the evidence suggests that this demand, though it may change in intensity, is likely to be an increasing factor overall. The working party have to ask if that increasing demand must necessarily be met, and whether it should be met in a planned or unplanned fashion. Also, whether it is possible to recognise that, within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs area as a whole, there are capacity constraints above which quality, attractiveness and beauty will inevitably deteriorate.
