Shortfalls in Information on Recreation and Tourism Resources (Issue)

Inventory Topic Area: PLANNING AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Subject: SHORTFALLS IN INFORMATION ON RECREATION AND TOURISM RESOURCES

Management issues:

It is vital for planning and policy making that current data and information are readily available, and that the effectiveness of policy decisions is monitored. There is a wide range of documents containing information on recreation and tourism resources within Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, but there are shortfalls in this data which limit its usefulness for planning or management purposes. In the longer term, it is important that information technology systems which allow large volumes of information to be collected, stored and interchanged are used effectively to ensure that future plans and policies are based on sound current and historical data.
