Management issues:
There is an urgent need to bring together existing information relating to the management of the natural heritage and to gather new information, where there are gaps. Two basic requirements are the need for:
i. full knowledge of the distribution, extent and make up of the natural resource; and
ii. a fuller understanding of how human activities impinge on the natural resource.
Equally basic is the need for a long term, strategic approach to the management of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs area, capable of being adopted by the various interests involved. A prerequisite of an agreed strategy is a substantial research effort into areas of critical concern, such as the future management of threatened semi-natural woodlands.
