Handling Development Pressures (Issue)

Inventory Topic Area: HERITAGE CONSERVATION

Subject: HANDLING DEVELOPMENT PRESSURES

Management issues:

At present, policies and plans are not coordinated over the whole of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. The Working Party accept that the countryside has always evolved according to its use, and they have no desire to stifle change and development. There is, however, a particular need in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs area for planning policies and design guidance to reflect the special qualities of the landscape and its built and natural heritage. There is also the particular difficulty that the current administrative division of the area (Argyll & Bute Council, Stirling Council and West Dunbarton Council) means that policies are not consistently applied throughout.
