Inventory Topic Area: ACCESS INTO THE COUNTRYSIDE
Subject: DEMAND ON WATER-BASED RECREATION
Management issues:
The Working Party have considered elsewhere the possibility of zoning water areas, temporally and spatially, as a positive way of reducing conflict. The popularity of water sports is likely to continue to increase, and so will the pressure exerted on zoned and unzoned water. Overall, the amount of water available for water sports is a finite and highly valuable resource, and conflicts are likely to increase in future, unless measures are taken to improve the management of water and to identify appropriate sites for intensive use.
