Description : The review was produced in response to an invitation by the Scottish Minister for Home Affairs and the Environment to study management arrangements for popular mountain areas such as the Cairngorms, taking into consideration the case for arrangements on National Park lines in Scotland. Outlines the value of mountain areas, examines the current land use patterns and recent changes in agriculture, tourism, estate management, forestry and conservation. Looks at problems in mountainous areas and considers possible future changes and make recommendations on the setting up of national parks in the Cairngorms, Loch Lomond, Bennevis, Glencoe, Black Mount and Wester Ross
