Observations on the Shelduck Population of Loch Lomond NNR - Abstract
Foreword
The
common Shelduck Tadorna tadorna is predominantly a coastal breeding species
in the British Isles and is generally distributed during the breeding season
around the British coast. See map 1 (Sharrock 1976). The biology of the
species has been studied at various estuaries, the Shelduck attracting
attention for several reasons, notably the well developed-social behaviour
during the breeding season, the spectacular moult migration in autumn,
and the intensive flocking during winter.
